Eco Friendly Poppy Seed Head Stud Earrings

Handcrafted in Croyde, North Devon, from 'Silver Clay', a wonderful material made of tiny silver particles that have been recycled from the waste of the silver industry, which when fired become 99.99% pure solid silver.

The studs have been formed by hand from silver clay using a mould of a real Poppy Seed Head that I found in my mum and dads garden (the actual seed head can be seen in the photo's, it is the on eon the right). The silver has been coated with a patina which blackens the surface of the silver, before polishing the high points back to a silver finish, leaving the patina in the recesses to accentuate the design of the poppy head beautifully.

I have two different style poppy seed head studs available, these are the ten point, please have a look at my studs page to see the five point ones.

They measure 0.6cm tall and 0.6cm wide, are securely soldered to sterling silver ear posts and sold with sterling silver butterfly backs. They will arrive with you in a Recycled Wild Silver Jewellery box, safely packaged in 100% recycled, plastic free packaging.

The poppy is the birth flower for the month of August. They symbolise regeneration and eternal life due to their resilience and ability to flourish in harsh conditions. But it is the symbol of remembrance that the poppy is most commonly known, in remembering those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for a greater good. Legend has it that poppies grew in former battlefields in places where the soldier died. Wear the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and eternal life.

I plant a tree for every order placed!

Please have a look at my ‘about’ pages for more details on silver clay and the processes involved in making each piece, as well as the Wild Silver Jewellery 'story' and the steps I take to minimise my environmental impact throughout jewellery making and distribution.
